Steve is the National CMS Manager based in our Brisbane lab. He has accumulated 17 years’ experience in the mining industry working on mobile and fixed plant, and another 16 years’ experience in condition monitoring at Komatsu CMS, which he now manages. He has completed the International Council for Machinery Lubrication Level 2, Principles and Practices of Lubrication Level 1 QUT, and a Diploma of Leadership and Management.

Satchoo experience spans over 35 years in laboratories in the petroleum and lubricant industries. He started his career at Komatsu CMS as Laboratory Supervisor and his now Principal Chemist and Quality Manager.

Micheal started with Komatsu in 1990 as a trades assistant before beginning an apprenticeship as a diesel fitter. He worked in the Sherwood workshop then moved into field service, working around Brisbane and the Gold Coast, mainly on preventative maintenance. As this became an area of interest and passion, he did a brief transfer to Century Zinc mine as a service technician before returning back to Brisbane. Soon after, Micheal joined the CMS team as an evaluating technician and has been with Komatsu CMS for over 18 years.

Micheal really enjoys working as part of the CMS team which includes highly qualified individuals with years of experience.

Komatsu has a diverse range of Evaluating Technicians, ranging from long-term Komatsu employees like Micheal, through to Komatsu forklift technicians, on-highway truck specialists and qualified mechanics. All CMS Evaluating Technicians must have a mechanical trade background.

While they may not all work under the one roof, all technicians remain in close contact and share knowledge constantly. For Micheal, the most satisfying part of working for CMS is working with a close team that has good communication.

While Micheal was only able to assist a few customers on a daily basis while he was in field service, CMS has allowed him to help a larger number of customers every single day to ensure that their machines run to their expected lifecycle. He enjoys helping customers with the experience that he’s gathered over the year being with Komatsu.

Grant was a mechanic before joining Komatsu, from 1996 to 2012. As a mechanic for 16 years, its helped Grant gather a wealth of information on the mechanical operation of almost all oil lubricated components. While he enjoyed this role, Grant wanted to become involved in the analysis of components, understanding what leads to failures and how to avoid major issues. That’s when he joined Komatsu CMS. His practical knowledge of machinery enables him to convey results to customers in a language they can easily comprehend. During his time with Komatsu, Grant also obtained the Noria ICML level 2 qualification in Machinery Lubrication.

Michael has completed various courses to help grow this knowledge including a Certificate in Engineering Trade and a Trade Certificate in Fitting/1– Class Machining. Michael has worked in R&D in the automotive and motorsports industry and in 2011 joined Komatsu.

David started with Komatsu after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 2008 as a Laboratory Assistant. Striving for excellence, has was promoted to Senior Lab Technician and now Laboratory Supervisor.

David points out that every member of the CMS team has a diverse background (either a different nationality or culture), so it’s been satisfying in learning to understand each other whilst they all work together for the benefit of our customers. David said “It’s a fantastic team, and I love seeing all our lab staff members working together on a common goal of servicing our customers in a timely manner.”

Kelly has acquired over 30 years’ experience in administration and data entry, which has helped Komatsu to ensure reports are accurate as possible. While Komatsu reviews over 200,000 samples per year, it is important to maintain accuracy and quality; her attention to detail and level of professionalism ensures registration of samples and management of equipment details are precise for each and every sample report.

After getting his Laboratory Chemical Testing Diploma from TAFE in 2007, Benjamin began his career as a casual lab technician for Komatsu CMS in 2008. While thoroughly enjoying his time within the lab, in 2010 Benjamin was employed as full time.

Being part of a professional, well-structured team within the lab has helped Benjamin deliver exceptional services for customers. Part of Benjamin's role is to ensure all lab equipment adheres to the strict quality guidelines before samples can be processed, a task that he takes pride in being in control of.

Geoffrey’s career with Komatsu spans over 25 years where he performed various roles including forklifts, field service technician, workshop manager and sales. He is currently one of the CMS technicians at the Brisbane lab.

Greg’s experience on heavy equipment dates back to 1972, across both the mining and construction industries. In this time, he has trained others including apprentices, technical and non-technical people, as well as working as a supervisor, forging a strong working relationship at all levels. He's gain credible experience in the mining services sector, including (FIFO) remote mining experience, maintenance planning and scheduling, condition monitoring and oil analysis. Furthermore, he was involved in the setup of the first Komatsu KOWA oil laboratory in Queensland and has been involved in condition monitoring and the used oil analysis industry since 2000. His years’ of experience has not slowed his continued interest in learning and technical development in the heavy machinery, mining and mechanical fields.

Greg completed his Bachelor of Science degree in 1998. Soon after, Greg was employed as a lab technician in a dairy farm organisation before being promoted to laboratory supervisor. Greg then moved on to work at another laboratory in their chemistry and microbiology departments as a senior technician before taking employment with Komatsu in 2015.

Greg takes pride in working with the wider CMS team to produce sample reports that result in actions for the customer. This means ensuring the results obtained from the samples processed are 100% correct. He enjoys following the workflow of all tests carried out as per Komatsu’s strict QC procedures. He feels confident that his part in the CMS team helps Komatsu customers ensure their equipment is in optimal condition, regardless of the size of their fleet and operation.

James graduated with a Diploma in Laboratory Technology in 2006. In 2007, he joined Komatsu as a laboratory technician.

Joleen has been with Komatsu since 2012 supporting customers in various areas including service, warranty and administration. She is currently the CMS administrator.

Michael graduated with a Diploma in Laboratory Technician and Environmental Science, starting his career as a laboratory technician performing technical diagnostic tests and data collection. Since 2006, he has been with Komatsu CMS as lab technician.

Michael enjoys the team spirit where everyone works together to meet the customers’ needs. His current role helps him transfer his technical experience for the benefit of customers.

Michael is also the safety representative, fire warden and first-aid officer in the lab, which has proven to be a satisfying part of his role by making sure that safety comes first.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 2004, Rose has since worked in a laboratory environment within the water, wastewater and coal industries. In 2017, Rose gained experience in oil and fluid testing. Rose joined Komatsu in 2021 as a laboratory technician.

Completing sample analyses for the day knowing that the customers rely on these data to take better care of their machinery. But the most satisfying part of the job isn’t just the fulfilment of technical requirements but the thought that at the end of the day, I am not just a worker but also a part of a well-knit Komatsu team.

Saied has collectively over more than 19 years’ professional experience in chemical laboratories in various industries and roles.

Saied enjoys working as a team at Komatsu CMS and dealing with the challenges faced day-to-day. By delivering sample results as quickly as possible means customers can better maintain and operate their fleet at optimal levels.

Sandra’s experience spans over more than 20 years’ experience working in laboratories both in Ireland and Australia across various areas including water/wastewater industry, electroplating, alumina refining and oil analysis.
